Cutting down magnum zonkers?

I found a deal on another bunny scarf. It had tassels running down the sides that are made from 1/8" strips, but the strips that made up the body of the scarf are 1/4". So now I have about 30 feet of cotton candy pink magnum zonkers. They're too wide for palmering, so I want to slice some of them in half to make more 1/8" strips. Once they're cut down to size and the perfume smell goes away (seriously it smells like someone spilled a whole bottle of the stuff on it) I bet they'll make excellent steelhead jigs.

Any suggestions on how to go about doing this without damaging the hair?

When I cut my first zonker strips I clamped a piece of the hide down and with a cutting board underneath, Stretched it and with a metal ruler used a razor blade to cut the strips just deep enough to cut through the leather but not the hair.
