I have both 2" diameter and 3" diameter cups but find I use the 2" more often than not. Usually I use the 3" cups for spoons and some vibrating blades. Seems a waste for 1/64 - 1/16 oz jigs

The more I get into mixing "custom colors" the more I think it would be nice to have smaller cups that would work with 3 - 5 tsps of powder. To this end, I have been toying with the idea of making a 1" cup for smaller jigs. Has anyone tried smaller diameter cups or will I be wasting my time? I dont like reinventing square wheels!

I only use a 3" because when I dip with fat fingers I go parallel to keep powder off hook eye. There also is a trick when you mix in your sparkle. If you go parallel it gives a equal spread better in my opinion (dealing with sparkle). If you go head first generally you get more on the back/neck area. I do agree it takes for me about 5 to 6 tsps of powder pending air flow. I like to have the paint about .5" from top at a good air flow rate so I can get good coating and not going to bottom of cup.
On my 1/64 I have been using metal fabrication paint markers from Fastenal or Grainger to paint the heads basic colors instead of dipping in fluid bed pending what colors you are trying for. Sally Henson over the top and good to go on the 1/64.

Jigs that small you can usually "fluff & stuff" with a jar. I use fingernail polish on 1/24th and smaller more than PP. Haven't used a FB in a long time - mostly tap with brushes or "fluff & stuff".....

OK guys, what are you using for the bottoms on your paint cups? I need something cheap and easily available!

Do you super glue then on or use epoxy or silicone?
Any particular brand, or are they all the same? Sorry, if this has been asked before...I did a search on here but didn't really find anything.
Thanks

I need to build a new one of these. Damn thieves broke mine when I had my garage break in. I had a 4 cup setup and usually used paper grocery sacks. some colors are heavier than others so you have to tube it sometimes. next one I build I'll use a 3 inch cup instead of a 2 inch though. I've heard some guys using construction paper too but I haven't used that personally.

So far... i have just been using bathroom caulk to build as its what was laying around. Seems to be working so far. I used the vaccum bags as they were laying around and i did not have to go to the store.
