Not trying to say craft hair is bad at all (I tie a bunch of it and it catches fish) You may want to look into some foxtail, here in East Tennessee with our smallmouth the foxtail jigs I tie out do the craft hair jigs I tie bar none. If you decide to tie some save your $$ and go to Etsy on the Internet or Ebay (I like Etsy) and look at the foxtail they have for sale. You can buy a whole tail for almost the same price as 2 packs of foxtail medallions from a "fly shop". I use a lice brush to comb out the under fur after I cut a pinch of hair off for the jig. I buy white if I need to dye it to get colors that are not offered.

That color combo you tied flat out catches fish, one of the best colors for any lure and any species of fish.

What's the difference between fox tail and arctic fox hair cause I've tied with the arctic fox hair before but never tail

Nice tie, eye placement is different but should work fine.

It's all the same as fox goes. The little foxtaill medallions you buy in a store are $5-6 and make a hand full of jigs, the full foxtails are 12-20+ inches and anywhere between $10-18 for the ones I buy, and I can make jigs all year with a full tail. Same thing with hackle feathers. $$$ saved when you find the right deals.

Googled Etsy - looks like an Amazon type outlet.

Gotta link to the foxtails?

Does it take more fox to equal bulk instead of craft hair??

No Sir, I cut way less foxtail than craft hair for a bulky jig. When I cut the hair off the foxtail it is just a pinch between my thumb and pointer finger. The under hair or fur can be thinned out with a comb or you can tie with the under fur still in it, it's a personal deal on how you want to tie it or the profile you want to achieve with the jig. It all comes down to personal preference, just have to play around till you get what you want.

Another tip --

Around my neck of the woods, coyotes are prolific - so much so, there's bounties on them in some counties.

I found a guy who sells the tails for cheap. Bought a couple, but should have bought him out when I see these prices.
