The plan was to fish Canyon Creek last Friday and Saturday, but my father twisted his bum knee the first half hour we were at Canyon, so we spent the rest of the day at Tonto Creek since it was easier for him to fish there. Fishing was slow and the water was muddy, but I did land one stocked rainbow and this brown, biggest I have ever caught. Both on a 1/100 with a size 12 hook, black calf tail and chenille.
Saturday we spent the day fishing at Oak Creek. The first spot brought 15 rainbows and 3 browns. After lunch we tried a new spot, and it was a honey hole for stocked rainbows. Pretty fast flow coming out of some pipes underneath a concrete crossing on the creek, just drifted the jig about 18" under a small float, and in an hour and a half I landed 22 and my dad 15. All on a 1/100 oz, sort of a brown olive color.

As you can see the water in Oak Creek is night and day from Tonto. Great weekend of fishing, and great spending time with my dad who just turned 69.
