Got to looking at a color wheel...... complimentary (contrasting?) colors are the ones that are on opposite sides of the color wheel. Electric Chicken is one of the combos that are compmilenting. 
Red/green is another. Maybe something to this??? Decided to try making up a few from opposite sides of the wheel. Both the orange and yellow with the purple look amazing!
Next set was made with the general idea of contrasting colors in mind.............

The far right jig is my thought of a WATERMELLON color. Keep seeing lots of people call things watermellon.
