Finally, Texas will be getting some colder weather, next week.....so last month, in anticipation of cold weather, started to load up some firewood...this was the first load, but not the last...for sure !!...:)

This load was all free firewood, just for the haulin'..Surely Thankful For That !!...

What kind of wood is that - looks nice & tight? We don't actually need the heat out here, but burn for fun when hankering flame broiled doggies. Plus, Cathie is asking for a sweat lodge.

Geez, thats a tight fit between your canopy posts.

Your forest looks pretty unfriendly, what kind of trees?

Most of the wood is Oak...the trees in the background are cedars...(only good for fenceposts)....

Looks like you're prepared. I'm not much on fires bc it doesn't get cold enough here.

Mary Lou It sure has been warm in this part of the country. You are right it is going to get cold. On one of the other boards that I post on they said that the Indians are stacking wood high this winter. Well I have 4 cords cut, split, and stacked this year and about 1 and a half cords left to cut and split. Most of it is white and red oak I have about half a cord of elm that was given to me by a neighbor. I was lucky as most of the stuff was fresh and split nicely. Some about a cord is really knotty and will be good all nighters. We still might have a very cold winter but it will not last as long as it could have.

At any rate hope you will keep warm and get some more of that free wood.

P.S. Will post pictures of the wood pile and wood house later.
