The light that comes with the curing kit operates on AAA batteries. I tried using a conversion kit fed by 120 volt house electricity. The led bulbs began quickly burning out and not curing the goo.

So I purchased a fingernail polish 39 watt UV curing light on Ebay for less than 25.00. It is cheaply made and comes with NO extras not even instructions.

Preliminary testing does give a promise of hope . Everything I have cured so far has been quick and complete. Cant figure out how to use timer button so I just turn on stick jig in and count 1001, 1002--- up to 1005.

So far so good. Will report back on its worth when I have had it a couple of months. I assume this would work on Loon and other similar concoctions.

Picked one up also. I push the timer button, let it time, turn the jigs 180 and hit the timer again. One shot wasn't enough to keep eyes on with just a clear coat.
I'm using the fp uv stuff. Not sure if a longer timed exposure is better. Also have clear coated with regular clear fp then coated with uv clear.

A cheap blue laser pointer works nicely for pin-point fixating jobs, s.a. building up large baitfish fiber bodies. :icon14:

Its no solution for bigger plains/coats though.

In TN fishing this week.....The clear goo jigs are getting a little sticky in the tackle box. Does this normally happen?

they always sweat out some goo, hence the name :-) seriously, this stickyness happens to most UV cured glues. It might also be a hint at insufficent curing, though

I have two of the flashlights I ordered from China, I'm thinking about $10 for both. They cure all the UV goos including the Looms. Some of the goo's will always be sticky, a coat of SH will fix that. I like the Loons Knot Sense the best and you get more in the container. I cure for 10 seconds. I have looked at the fingernail lights, still may buy one?

Mine looks like a miniature sun tanning booth - think it's 30 + watts!

Does a longer exposure produce a tougher coat????

pb - did you try re-exposing them? Were the jigs left in the sun light?

I'm using the clear coat that is used for fingernail polish. I think there is a glue used for attaching fake nails too.

Got an Idea I'll hobble over and check it out in the shop . Most of my curing is done with an infra red light . Taes a little longer but no problems .

Was in Cabela's today and found a tube of the Knot Sense in the bargain cave for $4 and some change, so I bought it to see if it was better at holding in eyes. Need to paint up some more heads before I can test it out, though.

I recommend to do so. These handlights are nice for fixating, but final curing in such a device gets you much more durable, less sweaty coats for a whole lot in just a few seconds.

The Knot Sense does seems to be less tacky after it is cured for 10 seconds. I have used it as a glue on a few jigs stands for taking pics and it works well.
