Ok heres the deal. A friend of my sister asked me if I could tie up a variety dozen of crappie jigs for her dad for fathers day. I did and my sister gave them to her. Today I get an email from my sister that said her friend loved the jigs and requested some more. she told my sister that her son had bought some "Chicken Feather Jigs" in Wisconsin and he caught a bunch on them. She wanted three dozen of them. Thats all it said....Pretty broad statement huh. I'm waiting to hear back from this lady to find out more details. If someone asked you for chicken feather jigs what do you think they're referring to. My first thought is a Hackle tail jig but she could just be talking bout a basic marabou tail. thoughts?

I would say she meant the threadneck hackle feather jigs like you see in walmart, there is a name for that style and I can't think of it right now.

Bet she was talking about a Lindy Little Nipper, but get her to send you a picture (or at least a better description) before you start tying.

I make and sell a ton of those here in Wisconsin. it's the only jig people really use up here. gotta pour 1000 more this week. to tell the truth, I don't tie with chenille and was afraid of posting pictures of my jigs here in fear of looking like a rookie. Lol. easy to tie and they work freaking awesome up here. 1/32 ounce head, pearl white paint, loose hackle, that it's all. I put flash or rubber in for some customers too.

I usually flatten the sides a little and put 3 mm eyes on em. some resorts dont like them but I think it makes them look better. for really finicky fish I even tie some on a 1/64. the ones in the pic were just some rejects I didnt send out for one reason or another. that's what happens when you stay up until 5 am tying jigs then wake up a few hours later, go out to the garage to package them and say, "what the $%#!? who in the hell tied these things!?!?! oh ya, it was me.... i think?" lol

If I had a dime for every one of these I have tied over the last 30+ years....I WOULD HAVE (ALOT) OF DIMES...LOL. I AM TALKIN' A TRAIN CAR FULL OF DIMES....Her dress may not be as fancy as some, but she still gets the job done. And in the end, it's full wells and fillets that matter the most anyways...not if you are driving a Ferrari or a Maverick...lol.. Fish On My Friends...Fish On...
