I have started taking photos of every new style or new color jig I tie. Whether it is to advertise the products you are selling or to just show off your work on the forums I'm sure everyone wants good close-up shots of their flies and jigs. Being a photographer I can tell you that you can take some really sweet macro shots if you buy a nice camera and some quality lenses but of course you don't need to. Go to the hardware or dollar store and buy a magnifying glass. Mount it on something stationary, hold or mount your jig(s) in front of it and you can use any camera or cellphone camera to shoot through it and take some nice close-ups. These are some pics I took with my Iphone.View attachment 6View attachment 7View attachment 8View attachment 9View attachment 1View attachment 2

Never thought of doing it that way - i've always used the macro setting. The pictures turn out really nice that way and show the detail well. Would be an excellent way to take close-ups from a phone camera.

-- You mention being a photographer -- what all are you taking pics of? I'm a hack at taking pics... no fancy equipment but tend to look at everything as a potential picture waiting to happen and love looking at photos.

You are right. Everything is a potential photo waiting to happen. Even the simplest things like a single blade of grass or a shadow on the ground can be the subject of a great photograph. That is if you have the vision and the ability to take the time to look at things in a completely different perspective. The majority of the Photographs I take for my business are portraits of families and high school seniors but people hire me to take photos of a lot of different things as well.(Cars, pets,ect....) As far as my personal photography my main focus is Nature. Mostly Abstract nature and macro stuff but I enjoy photographing any type of wildlife that I can get in front of my lens. I'm going to quit typing cause I seem to be babbling. :)

Andy,
Thanks for the tip. But I have a question for you. I have been looking for a long time for those small spring clamps with the red handles you have in your pics. I have about 12 of them and they are about 1-1/2" tall max. The ones you have look exactly like mine. I bought mine at the dollar store, several years ago, and now the dollar store is gone. Where did you get your spring clips if you don't mind me asking. I'm looking for about 50 of them. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have similar vision as myself in what you like to photo. I carry my camera nearly everywhere. Not to hi-jack your thread, but here are some of my pics i posted a while ago and add to now and then:

Would love to see some of what you capture through the lens..... or LCD display as it is now a days.

I get those clips at a local "Do it Best" Hardware store. They are a dollar for six. I have several of them. They are pretty handy.
