I did manage to get out and fish for a little bit while the wife and kids were swimming and i was on dog duty. Found some bluegill beds (they must have gotten lucky enough to spawn twice this year) on the opposite shore from the swimming beach. Some very aggressive fish protecting the beds so tried to leave them be and focused on the roamers outside the beds in deeper water. Tiny dark kip jig with a small float pegged a few feet up for casting did pretty well. Managed this one that was just a hair shy of 10"! Only brought my super light rod with 2lb line and it made my reel scream pulling drag.

Wow, serious family friendly park, enjoyed by many it seems.

Sounds like your kids have other preferences to fish'n? Nice gill, I'd guess bass & cats are lurking too.

Thank goodness gramma and grandkids sleep late so I managed a few hours of water time at first light on our camp outs.

Is that Roscoe on the water with you?

By the looks of the pics you had an Awesome time camping at a beautiful place. Is that a privately owned resort/camp or a state park or what?

It was a hopping place with kids running in all directions. My children will go fishing with me..... but only when there is nothing else entertaining to do. Even when they do go, usually would rather turn over stones and catch bugs than fish which was exactly what i did at their age. This place had many things to keep them otherwise occupied. Beach, water slide, playgrounds, pedal boats and kayaks, a campground wide water gun fight, gift shop and other craft activities that we did not even have time for. I am pretty proud that they can row circles around other kids much older than them though. Both children have been paddling a kayak since they were about 4yrs. old! I 'raced' my daughter last time we had ours out and she could keep pace with me.

My 'neighbor' campers went down and did some cat fishing right at sunset and reported catching several. There were very large snails everywhere in the lake - they would be a great forage base to grow large cats. Did see they had a catfish tournament listed on their scheduled events later on in August.

Not Roscoe.... he passed on late last year. That is our young lady Candy along with me. She has turned out to be a decent fishing companion, can hook the leash to my belt and she sticks with me. She does however, love getting in the water to the point of jumping off the dock once in a while with me still attached to her. She is only about 8 months old and FULL of energy still. Can see her sitting in the camp chair in the 2nd to last pic.

Is a big, private campground. Very well kept and lots of staff making sure all is moving along properly. A bit pricey for the rates (we spent about $45 for each night) but then you get a wrist band and all activities are included with your camping cost. You could get day passes also. Beautiful place and only a little over an hour from home. We will be back i am sure.

Water was fairly clear but not the best visibility. Could see the roaming pack of bluegills outside the spawning area only briefly and then they would dive deep again and out of view. It was VERY blue. The staff must treat it and use the blue dye to keep weed growth down.

Enjoy those times w/ your kids. They get old faster than you think.

Nothing better than a camping trip. I've never seen a campground that nice with family friendly activities. Looks awesome. You've got a sweet setup going there.

Awesome report and good to see Candy getting to lay around :) She has got big since the last pic I seen of her.
Very nice camp ground for sure. It is nice to be able to go camping without any trouble out of unruly campers. All the camp grounds around me are kept up nice and are watched to keep thing running smooth.
Nice bream and it had to be fun on the 2lb line. Would like to find a few beds but most of the water around me that is shallow is muddy and been muddy for awhile now.
Rain and camping, not any fun. My camper is only 22' so with a couple of people, space seem to become very small....

Enjoyed the pic and report,
Ronnie
