Using electronics has always been my weakness. From the days the first flashers came out to the almost like radar efficiency of todays units.

I was a late bloomer in the computer age but never in the fishing electronics. Well this year over the winter I have gone off the deep end so to speak. My little 16' Lund looks like something J.Costeau would be seen in. I added a network system to go with my Humminbird 1198C. Then proceeded to add a 360 View. Then next came an 899C as my back-up /front seat unit. Lastly a Minn Kota I-Link trolling motor to tie everything together.

Did shop long and hard on internet to afford all this. Tons of research went into it also. In fact bought the trolling motor used. saved over 600 there alone. Playing and tweaking the electronics is almost as fun as actually catching the fish for me.

Now I just have to watch that I don't get so busy playing with " toys " that I forget to fish. Will take a pix when all set up and ready to go.

Give all you guys a good laugh and a pic you can show your better halves. Then you can tell them " See you thought I was bad. "

If I ever get a real boat with a motor and the right seat......, sacs don't have a chance.
Gimme some of that good electronic stuff and I may have a heart attack.
Or start scuba diving.

You should be able to go pick off the fishing tackle you lost on the brush piles last year with your new equipment. Always love getting a better idea of what is under the water.

Well floating fish lab is on halt right now. One of the components the 899C crapped out this AM. Tried to do an update to the software on it and the update caused it to go into a shut down mode. Have done many updates on Humminbird units and never a problem. Won't be able to say that anymore.

Called Humminbird CS and they emailed me a pre-paid shipping label. Will go out tomorrow. Completely bummed me out. Never even had the chance to get it wet. I realize Humminbird is going to take care of me but to have problems with a brand new unit is kinda disheartening. I was torn between this 899 or the old model 998 as the 998 has some great closeout prices on it. Makes me wish I would have went with the tried and true.
