I hit the bench again today for a bit and I decided to do a few more nymph type ties since all the stuff for them was already out. I used a 1/32oz head painted black and made a tail of black bucktail, after that I added fine rust dubbing for the body and since I didn't have silver tinsel I used silver crystal flash and doubled it and then twisted it so it would be a little thicker to use for ribbing and it worked pretty good. After the ribbing was done I used a black and white grizzly soft hackle for a collar, I like tying these as they are pretty fun but when I took the ones I did yesterday and tank tested them in the water I have to say that I see why they catch fish, very insect like and the soft hackle moves nicely which I found out a while ago.

Thanks everyone, I've done so many bass jigs in the last few months that I didn't have a clue on what to tie for crappie when I go in a few weeks. I spent a lot of time looking at what you guys have been tying and then looking at other pics on the web and decided on experimenting combining a few different elelments. The nymphs got a nod as I read an article in a fly fishing magazine about nymphs for smallmouth bass and I thought I would try a combo bass/crappie jig by making some in a 1/16oz with a size #4 hook, after I finished it I decided that I would use that for bass as it looked a little big for crappie so I settled on the 1/32oz size #6 hook. My buddy told me that the #6 should be fine for the crappies we are targeting but just in case I have a few 1/48oz minnow heads with a #8 hook to hang small plastic fry on.
