Fall is just around the corner. I figured I best be getting started.

Bucktails for those interested will likely be the theme for the next swap. Not sure about the sizes yet as these 1 oz jigs would cost a wee bit to ship.

Nice work on the jig and everything, but I wonder if the hookchoice might impede the hook up rate. It looks likde the hook was pointing inwards, even before the eye. Have you fished that combo a lot before?

I have not used this hook on this particular jig head. It has been used on the 3/4, 5/8 and 1/2 oz Ultra Minnow and it seems to work just fine. In comparing it does point in a little more than on the ultra. I clearly see what you are looking at and it could be an issue. Barlow's has this hook as one of those to use. I'll have to get it out and test it. Thanks for the input.
I've also started coating my big jig heads with epoxy and the thread necks to. It has super results as in adding to the life of the jig paint and thread. You can beat up a football jig in the rocks all day and at quitting time it still looks as new as when you started.

Think about the direction of pull. If that hook is in the fishes mouth when you set the hook, its gonna dig in very well.
