Bread and Butter

I realized yesterday that i have been tying alot of jigs with different color combos but I really didn't have hardly any of my Bread and Butter combos. Black/White, White/Silver, All White, All Black. Anyway I picked some stuff up on my way home yesterday. i've got to get some heads painted and then I'm gonna see what I can come up with. I tied a few of these bead heads up this morning. I used Clear/Chrome silly legs (I Love these things) and some white chenille for the underbody.

Andy the black and white and silver and black patterns are old ones that in the upper mid west we called meat in the pot. They were number one producer on walleye. All the old lure manufactures it was there number one Color. Sad that with new dyes and material it was left behind. Now we have come back to a old standard. Guess that we are coming to the conclusion that less is more.

I used black NP to dot the eyes and clear top coat over the head.

I haven't fished any of these bead head jigs yet but I will fish these under a float with spin tackle. I have two setups. one is a seven foot medium action rod with a abu garcia ultra light reel with 4lb. Other one is a 4'6" microlite rod with same reel but 2lb. my microlight will actually cast these things a pretty good distance. I plan on trying to get a new flyrod soon so I might try that.

They are a pretty good size jigs so I'd say mainly Crappie but the big gills in some of the farm lakes I fish will inhale them for sure!
