4:45 AM, took the dogs out for their morning business, second step out the door, I got a rude awakening, Lost my footing, slipped off the porch and banged my head hard on the front of the porch, spilled my hot chocolate and knew I was hurt.

Let the dogs do their thing, fortunately first AM outing is short and sweet and by the time I was back on the porch dogs were ready to go in the house. Got back inside dripping blood grabbed a towel and decided I better hit the ER. In at 5:37, nine stitches later discharged at 6:46, No concussion maybe a mild one but no signs of occular impairment so Doc said I could go home. Got a very sore head aand not supposed to take anything for 12 hours. Novacaine is wearing off back of my head hurts, elbow hurts, and my derriere and lower back would rather I not be sitting.

So watch out for Black ice, It was 32 degrees, misting rain and forming a slick ice coating on everything. Gonna hit the couch shortly and see if I can find a good fishing show and figure out a way to get comfortable.

Please Be CAREFUL out there!

Thanks for the thoughts, feel better now but still hurts to move my head very much and let me tell you, applying the ointment to all the scratches on the back of my head is royal pain and the wife is too heavy handed. Got a "wild thing" stripe shaved across the back of my head. I'm sure the barber is gonna get a kick out of it.

I guess I was lucky. Some friends were going to a dog show a bit north of here and were within 3 miles of the show site and black ice everywhere, roads closed and the detours and road conditions turned 3 miles into a 2 hour trip. A few aquaintences from the north werent so lucky two were in accidents and one had their van totaled. Fortunately, my injuries were the worst suffered by all I've talked to.

That sux. Hope you heal quickly

In the past 10 years, wife's slipped on ice twice. First time broker her cockex (sp??) - that's the tail bone. Poor thing had problems sleeping for a month. Second time broker her elbow & now has two pins.

And I'm the one who drinks .......
