Been awhile since I have been on Jig Craft, figured I pop back in here. These are the latest ties, looks like we have stepped back into the 80's with the big hair craze. These are 7-8 inches long with a 1 oz. Poison Tail head and a 6/0 hook, tied with Bucktail, craft hair, and hackle. Blueback and Rainbow Trout.

Nice Job on the tying, neat clean colars. Just gotta wonder how many 1/32 ounce jigs each of those would make.

Great-looking ties. Indeed, big hair has been in vogue this year.

The old Mann's Preacher Jig has some mighty nice successors.

Thanks Men.....That would be a boat load of 1/32 oz jigs. I got a total of 4 jigs out of one tail on these monsters.......I'll stick to my 1/8 for the smallmouth. Lots of "old timers" know the power of a simple hair jig, these are overkill but for good reason. I can smell wintertime come'n and in my boat it's all about the "little" hair jigs. Guess when the pros let the cat out of the bag this year on Chickamauga the craze began. Funny how today's new generation of anglers thinks the hair jig is a new technique . I'll be glad when the next new technique comes out and the hair jig is forgot about once again. Guess I don't help out posting pics like this but we are craftsmen and like to display our work. See what a silly little fish will do to a grown man?

Stripers and big Largemouth would love those. I agree about the 1/8 for smallies. I have the smaller size Poison tail and have been tying a bunch with it. Are you gluing in the guards after tying? What kind of weed guard? Love the detail with these.

I pour the wire guards in as I make the head. Its nylon coated wire leader I use. I will never use another "standard" fiber weedguard again or should I say I have not used one in about 3 years.........I have shown and convinced a bunch of guys about the wire guards but there are still a few that keep on hang'n jigs in the tree tops and brush piles.......Just means I make more jigs for those guys.:P

Excellent work and very interesting thread to read! I have just recently started to tie in this fashion since the old rabbit zonker, my favorite, is too limp for larger northern pike and salt water patterns. Good to know that there is a trend coming up, with Youtube clips and everything.

Don't count the hair jigs out. I've been experimenting with them and testing some over the summer. Been doing quite well with them. Something different that fish haven't seen. I just hope I can keep the genie in the bottle around these parts. Gonna open some eyes come tournament time next year. Just gonna have to keep my rods out of sight so people can't spy on what baits I have tied on.... oldest trick in the book!

They look sweet. I'm guessing they'd prob work well here for our salty fish but dunno much about it when it comes to artificial. Bet my sis'd like it.... She was into kiss, ratt, Mötley Crüe and all them other sissies. :-)
Great work.
