Big Bucks

Had a special order roll in this week and been working them up today and thought I would share. Tying 6 of each color 3 in 3/8oz and 3 in 1/2 oz. He wanted them all 7 inches plus but my tails are nothing close to that length and the feather seems to get a funky flop to them after a certain length. I think these will do the job though, now I'm just sitting here waiting for approval.

Yes it is and you have to be careful where you buy it. I've seen long hair tails advertised and get them in and they are terrible and short. I need to find some soon I got some big Whistler Flies to tie up this Spring.

you may want to look for a product that used to be called kinky fiber. It is not a true substitute for buck tail, but has great action, is avaliaable in a fine and heavy texture and is available in a kinky or straight fiber. . Long bucktail is to be hoarded. I made friends with a deer processor and he keeps his eyes open and has found me a few tails 6+ inch hair length but mostly 4-5 inch.

Bucktail has super action and unique propertites that IMO have not been duplicated. Hope you find some good tail in the near future.
