Dug through some old tackle and found some super-sized heads I bought when I was still living near Seattle. The hooks are too weak for salmon, but I figured I might as well practice for when the jigs with good hooks arrive.

They should be OK as articulated jigs, since the front hook doesn't make much difference when you cut it off. Thought people might be interested in the construction. The connection and weed guard are made from 7-strand Beadalon beading wire. The wire is stiff enough to protect the hook point, and flexible enough to bend when a fish grabs it (I hope.)

I'm not familiar with that application, but if you need some flexibility in the back hook, I'd recommend going with 19 strand or even the 49 strand wire. I wanted the hook to ride fairly stiff so it wouldn't sag below the materials tied to the front hook. The more strands the more expensive it is, though.

You can buy the wire at most craft stores. I think I paid $4 at Michael's for the 7 strand with a 40% off coupon.

That's an interesting tie. I like your use of the beading wire and will definitely check into it. I can see applications involving worms (plow jockeys) and leeches being developed from this.

Other applications can be found at this link if interested.

Didn't wan't to hotlink to the original thread on the RS board, so please read my copy. I hope that the link works for anyone interested. :)
