Read on here where Jigging john was using batting wool for tying the wool jig. Had to look up batting on web as I had no idea what it was.
anyway found a pile of it for less than14.00 so I figured I would try it.

As John stated it was easier to form the " shad " figure to start with . Anyway tied up a few to start the season with when ice melts. Here are a few ideas I came up with

That 90 degree swivel is size 16 that I use for a drop shot system

Yep, even ole Red (who came up with the idea-or,at least, his wife did when out to JoAnn's!) proclaims that batting material is far easier to work with and shape than raw wool. A bit of research shows that some batting has a fair percentage of wool in the mix, and our tests show this stuff to absorb and hold water really well. Though the batting's pure white color is bound to have a pronounced effect on early season fish, where WHITE is king for pulling in bass, trout, and crappies!

Dunno about the batting material. Tried it when everyone was going crazy over the wool when it was first brought up bc it was readily available in the house. Side by side vertical, color reigns supreme here, batting/ wool whatever. Color.
Got tangled together more than anything
Those look awesome though
! I use a white tail with blue body most of the time during the spring.
I'm beginning to believe the white can be substituted for purple or black. Maybe even brown in right clarity. Think it's more of a contrast of color combined with movement.
Thanks for the ideas brother.
