I was asked if I could tie a shrimp fly on a jig hook. This is how they look like around here:

Made a little film, too. Unfortunately, the hair darkens a bit when it gets wet while the powderpaint doesn`t. Might switch to craft fur instead. The paint has a good deal of gold and copper glitter and UV-blue clear in it.

What I like abour the football head is that it not only resembles the tail fin but also provides balance when the jig is hanging free. It hasen´t been fished yet, the guy who wanted it so badly checks his mail only once in three weeks and the sea bass season is almost over :-(

Nice tie. It would make a nice soft shell crawfish imitation here. Everything would eat those. Crawfish are defenseless during the molting period.

This is a great-looking tie. Very well done.

The fellow who wanted it is missing out, big time.

Thanks everybody! Thats a mustad steelhead hook size 2. Good point with the crawfish, there are ten times more anglers(=customers) here fishing waters with crawfish rather than shrimp in it :-)

Here´s the tying recipy for the fly its based on. Hope the pictures speak for themselves, otherwise I´ll translate:

Its from the hompage of the guy who taught me fly tying in the first place (and is still wondering what he did wrong that made me turn out a jigger :D )

I used softer tail material (natural fox), left out the diamond pheasant (who has that ?) and added a little UV glue as a back shield since its a jig and will be looked upon from the top rather than from below like a fly does.
