Bad news for me

I got a call yesterday from one of the tackle shops I have my jigs in. The owners said they are shutting the doors. They couldn't balance family and 2 jobs, said it was too much for them. That made me sad to hear that, they have or had a very nice store. They had a good business going too, just no time. So, today I'm leaving early to pick up my display and inventory before I have to be at work. That was the shop that was seeling my jigs good. The other 2 places haven't had any business because Bull Shoals is up so high. That sucks! Well, back to the drawing board. They said everything must go, so they are liquidating everything. The website is www.thetackleshack.com
They are located in Forsyth, Missouri, just incase anybody was interested in some lures of hunting supplies. Or maybe even taking over the business ;)

Yeah, the Mom & Pops are becoming history. Hard to compete with the big boxes buying & staffing power. The key I've noticed with the small local shops is doing reel/rod repairs and a friendly attitude attract loyal customers.

Well, polish your skills and keep getting out there, Ms. H. Ain't EZ.

Yep, that does hurt - sorry to hear it. I have seen 2 different small B&T shops go down in my area in the past few years. The one surviving is spreading out his base.... he does buisness printing now as well. Odd pairing but also have a shop across the street from my work that is a custom cake shop/bicycle repair shop.

If there are any fishing guides at your lakes, could always try contacting them to let them know what you do - take along a few free samples! ;)

Sorry to hear that Heather ... I have seen a lot of them come and go in the many years I spent out there in the tackle biz (mostly as jobber salesman) .. Some that I thought would really make it and didnt, some I thought would not make it became big ... Everything has to "Fit" to make it work ... I have had to "Knock on doors" a lot to keep going ....

Good Luck

I bet they could find someone to purchase the business on Ozark Anglers web site . Its not really a jig making oriented site but people have sold property and everything else on there. I sure hate to see that happen to mom and pop stores .When I closed my shop many years ago it was like a death in the family . Hang in there and build up your stock . The people who bought your jigs will be looking . Maybe the store kept a list they could give you . Contact the customers directly send them in the mail.

I'm sorry to hear that. Small business doesn't have a chance these days. If you're not going large, it seems hand to hand and word of mouth hustle is your best bet. Hope things pick up for you bc I've seen the pics of your products and they are definitely worthy of top shelf display.

On a high note, I'm going over to Roaring River today to see if they would like to carry my jigs or consign them. Wish me luck! Now off to school (College)

First day of school went great! Thanks Jigman! Teachers seam pretty nice, hope they stay that way.
Now the bad part...... Roaring River already has a tyer and did not need another. So, I bowed out gracefully and said "Thank you", and walked away. There are other places just got to get to them. My next trip will be around Beaver Lake.
