Took a short little vacation down to SE Ohio. Spent a few days in Chillicothe, original reason was to take the kids to see an outdoor drama/play called Tecumseh! about the indian-american conflicts in the Ohio region. Rained like he!! that afternoon (Monday) but they had the set all ready to go by the 8:00 showtime. Got to see 'almost' all of the play before mother nature decided to step in with a another lightning storm and more rain. We did get raincheck tickets to go back, so will try again in August. The kids absolutley loved what we did get to see though. Who doesn't love seeing black powder muskets, cannons, bows and arrows, scalping - and a story to go along with it!
We did some hiking around the hills/mountains too. I wouldn't call them mountains, but they are all named mountains so that is WHAT THEY ARE to my kids. We hiked a 2 mile trail up and over Sugarloaf Mt (a little over 1,200' elevation) and that was the highlight of the trip for my son. He's so damn scrawny he beat all of us to the top and was barely out of breath! lol That little bit of blue in the pic is him chugging away up the hill! The picture doesn't do it justice - it was STEEP!
On the last day we went to the Hocking Hills area to do some more hiking. We hit Cedar Falls 1st (the pics below) and then Old Man's Cave (forgot to grab my camera for that hike) before we headed home. The Hocking Hills State Forest area has several large waterfalls and countless gorges and sheer cliffs carved out in the sandstone - absolutely beautiful. I will see if i can add some more pics later from my wifes camera - she did grab her camera for Old Man's Cave.
