Last night the boys were busy, the Mrs. was headed to work and I didn't feel like just loafing on the couch so I pulled out some stuff and decided to work up a few more jigs.
Necessity breeds invention, I needed a way to make a little bit less of a mess because I didn't want to have to run the vacuum after the boys fell asleep, so I put my vice in an ice cream put to collect scraps. I think I am on to something here! Plus it is a nice place to hang my jigs while I am working on others!
After spinning up some more trout proto-types the boys came to check on me. They then dug through my materials with what they wanted for their jigs. Being one to not say no when it comes to creativity I let them choose their materials and then they helped me make a jig...once their jig was done they lost interest and back to their room they went. I think they did a decent job picking out materials.
Left Jig: 1/16th oz pink head on #4, Flo yellow nylon chenille, pink marabou over mallard flank (might end up doing the marabou over flank again)
Right Jig: 1/32nd oz Chartreuse head on #4, Not sure of the chenille name but its flo blue cactus chenille, Flo blue and blaze orange marabou tail (had to be Miami Dolphin's colors!)
My trout jigs last night, I pulled a couple marabou feathers from each of the following packs:Ginger, Olive, Light Olive and Brown. I decided once those were gone I would be done messing with those for a while (yeah right) Kind of mixed and matched, some had all 4 colors, some did not.
After tying all those drab colors I felt like mixing up some bright crappie jigs with some new marabou I got. I am not going to go through them all but they are all on 1/32nd oz heads. Flo blue and Flo yellow tails. Shimmer blue new age chenille and New age Volcano chenille on the yellow tails.
All in all it turned out to be a pretty good time tying and I think I mixed up a few that will make some sore lips
