Hey, was wondering if anyone has used the Permaflex Copper hightemp silicon gasket maker to rid a mold of the barb? I just bought a walleye head mold and want to rid the collar off the mold. Sounds like it should work, good to 700 degrees.

I always use high temp but never used that . Didn't need to because the lead cools enough before it hits the silicone .

Sure, I'll take and post some pics. It was really simple. Just filled in barb with permaflex, scraped flush with a blade, powdered with baby powder, powdered hook, loaded mold and left overnight. Poured 300 so far, about 85% - 1/16, 10% - 3/32, 5%-1/8 with no problems.

Here is a link for some pictures of the modified mold and the silicon I used. Worked great, just poured 100 1/16 this morning. Would have done more, but wife was complaining, saying I was keeping our baby up from my noise, her crib is right on the other side of the wall from my work bench. I think you can scroll through the pics, have pics of the mold, a fixture Pepop gave me the idea to make for curing heads, and a few jigs and fish. Hope it helps someone.

Where did the picture go?

The photobucket link should take you to the picture. Let me know if it doesn't work and I will figure out how to shrink the pic so I can upload it.

SlabHappy you got it fixed! Thanks for the effort getting the pictures up. I have a hell of a time getting stuff up when I try to show folks what I am doing (pictures). The mold looks good and now you can make what you want. I look forward to seeing how your jigs come out tyed and painted.

Need to get that mold. Looks like you could mod the last cavity for a #8 hook - probably weigh ~1/24th maybe. SH have you weighed your jigs after the modification?

No, I haven't, but there is a thread by crappiecrippler of the weights of a modified walleye mold. I think my nephew has a postal scale (not for drugs), I can weigh them on. If he didn't leave it at his moms, I will weigh them or get him to bring it back so I can. I will post when I do.
