All white with winter ice chenille. I used duck quills for the wings. Thought it would simulate a moth floating to the bottom or suspended in the water column....but maybe I have gone to far.

Very creative, that would be a killer flytie, securing the wings must be tricky. Do you have a target species?
Not really, was thinking gills. The wings aren't horrible, after a few wraps I added a dab of super glu. They are on there fairly well. But I almost always add glu or hard nails after every step.

I also got the idea from a fly tying book. I thought about making flies but I don't have a fly rod....yet

The only thing to remember is that a fly sits in the vise with the top up. A jig sits in the vise with the belly up. Those wings will be on the bottom of the jig, but it is a nice tie!

Like Mg said about hook orientation (barb up or down). That was one of the first things I had to overcome when doing fly patterns on jigs...

Not a big fan of supergluing on a tye either. You would be surprised how well knots and wraps hold up. We do use a clear fp for the finish.

Bet fishing that jig, under some night lights, would be killer on any species.

Could think of the wings as large pectoral fins beneath the jig's body. I'd give this one more than a few casts...

I thought about this as I was tying it. they are up top but more off to the side. Maybe it doesn't show up well in the picture. (The jig is far from perfect, but not bad considering they guy who tied it.) As I sat down I wanted to imitate a winged bug that you would see in the water. Always room for improvement, I can't wait to try it out, I made up some smaller ones, as well. Just need the ice to go away. I will also be trying this at night with a light, cause I think it could be deadliest there.
