No, but I occasionally catch them on jigs. Earthworms, cut shad, live perch, chicken liver, grass hoppers, stink bait, shrimp are all good choices for the cats. IMO
Sorry... Welcome to the forum Catfish John. Great bunch of folks here.
Lots of guys in my area catch them on cranks while trolling from a boat for other species. It really depends on how abundant they are in the lake or river that you fish. They are caught more frequently on lures in waters where they are extremely abundant imo. I've caught many bullheads and channel catfish on 1/8 and 1/16-oz. Rooster Tail Spinners while casting from shore. Both are very abundant in the reservoir that I fish.
Catch a lot of Saltwater Cats on jigs ... Both Hard Heads & Sail Cats ... Those Sail Cats can really slime up a line ... Catch most of them on my soft plastic Shrimp tail .. they are not choosey about colors ... they can mess up a good day with Trout & Reds by having to stop and cut & retie. They can pull.
I sure thought he was wacko awhile back when he said that, but have had 2 seperate trips with my fly rod that support the YELLOW theory........ I have been tying a bunch of yelle'er flies and jigs as a result. Will let ya'all know.
