Any threads on how to do this? I've never done it.

Trying to reproduce a spinnerbait made by a guy no longer in business.

His spinnerbait bodies are white with a pearl flashaboo-type glitter in the paint.

Any help please?

To get it to show up the best, i would suggest doing it as two separate paint applications. Paint the Pearl coat on first, slightly re-heat the head, then add on the silver holographic glitter second. Don't have to completely smooth over the Pearl if you re-heat it between paints...... personally think it is more durable in the long run if you keep the base coat kind of rough and bumpy between coats, but that may just be me. It will all smooth over during cure. Just be careful not to heat too much or a lot of paint will stick and end up slipping and sliding on the head while curing.

You can either get the pre-mixed stuff (glitter mixed with clear powder) from ProTech/CSI or you can make your own by adding hobby store glitter to any clear powder paint.

In my experience, would not try to just mix glitter in with your Pearl powder and hope to get it done in a single dip. The Pearl paint will cover up most of the glitter. It can be done by thinning out your Pearl by adding clear to it, but you will loose some of the dense color of the Pearl.

I do it a good bit and it isn't hard, the worst part is the white paint because it is so easy to scorch but I'll try to make this easy for you. I use a hobby sandblaster and actually spray the stuff on but you can do it with a brush as I have done it that way also. First step is to find the glitter you want, I recommend the silver holographic from protect, the reason is because the glitter is fine and is premixed with clear which helps seal the glitter onto the paint. After you have what you want simply paint your spinnerbait with the base color which is white and then using a heat gun or propane torch, heat it up for a few seconds, be careful not to scorch the paint, and then using a small artist brush gently tap the glitter/clear coat mix onto the spinnerbait, after you have it the way you like it pass it through the heat gun or torch for another 2 or 3 seconds just to make sure the glitter is in the paint and then cure. You can also mix the glitter and clear in the white paint, if you go this route make sure you blend it well and then find some scrap metal to test it to know if you have enough sparkle, too little, or too much and then you can adjust it.

Here is a pic of black with some green, gold, and silver holographic glitter in with it, this was a paint that I mixed rather than putting the glitter over top but it works either way.

I use CC's holographic glitter and mix it in with powder paint. I have made up a custom pearl white using it as well as use in a black paint called "Diamond Dust". I add ~ 2 tsp per 2 oz of paint.
