A newfound respect

For the folks that routinely tie less than 1/50 ounce jigs.

This afternoon, I cast a bunch of 1/64oz shad darts on #8 lil nasty hooks.
Messed around and coated a handful so I could tie some things I had in mind. A lot tougher to tie than I ever thought they would be. I figured after tying my 1/100 ball heads #10 hooks these would be a breeze. After a dozen or so attempts, I got something to look presentable and gave up for the night,

Will try again until I get it right.

Agree with the tiers that have patience.......I do not have a whole lot!

My 51 year old eyes don't like the tiny stuff! Plus I use 210 Denier for everything and probably does help either.

Problem with the dart that small is there isn't a lot of room to tye on. For the small stuff I use 6/0 or 8/0 thread.

1/64 as small as I go, I lose patience quick...

And I just bought a spool of 10/0 black thread for some really small flies, like size 20 and smaller

I need to get a different vise with midge jaws if I really want to keep going small.

I try and stick with 8/0 when tying that small, it gets easier when doing the small stuff.
