Jim I use pliers to bend the head in, I have done so many heads this way I know about when to stop putting on the pressure. After the eyes are set I use Sally Henson and start applying around the eyes to make sure there isn't any space that is void then I coat the whole head. Some colors just look so much better and black is a one of the best for me.
Doug it is just the paint tapped on after the jig is dipped in the black while the head is still hot. The copper doesn't show on the head but it gives the black a richer look and looks like glitter was added to the paint after it is cured.
