I haven't got on the lakes a lot over the last month but here are a some pics from Lake Greenwood and Hartwell of some of the 2013 fish. Rosco has grown up on this boat over the last year (March) so he enjoys fishing also.
Been having to fight the wind on each trip lately but it is still fun.

That one striper is a chunk! What did you hook it with? You don't keep them?

I don't keep any stripers, bass but do keep a few crappie and bream once in a while. The big striper was 29 1/2" and was caught on a 1/8 tied pony with a #4 red sickle using 6# line on a 12' crappie rod. I catch a lot of big fish on my crappie gear so I'm use to working them with the light tackle. They can make for a great time.
The wife doesn't care for eating fish so most my fish are released.

Nice ones Ronnie. I bet those stripers were a job getting them in on light tackle. Those are beautiful black crappie. Love those specks. We've had so much rain here lately that our lakes are way high and muddied up.

Nice catch! I use the same fishing setup as you and it feels good to get a good fish on. Can't wait for the ice to thaw around here.......sigh

Thanks guys.
Scott one of the lake came up 4.5 feet and you have to look for water that is fish-able because of the debris floating on top or under the surface. It is making it hard to locate the crappie because your DF shows the debris and what you think my be crappie isn't... It does keep things interesting. I went to the clear/stained water line last week and put out some cranks and caught 7 striper and one LM bass. Saved the day for me because I didn't find the crappie and the wind has been a pain. They call for 5 to 10 but on the lake it is 10 to 25, hard to plan your fishing.

By the way, that first pic was took while fly fishing from my kayak. I got a couple of them to fish the river near my house were there isn't much access and the water my run 2' to 6' with deep pockets down to 17' deep. The deep pockets are where the fish are at right now. It is a lot of fun but with the heavy rains we had, the river is still muddy to stained and rolling at a good pace so the kayaks have been dry docked right now :)

Nice fish..... t-shirts in January - bah! :P Looks like fun. Never tried to cast the flyrod from my kayak, bet that takes a little getting used to. Sure would be fun.

BTW - I showed my kids the picture of your Rosco....... did they ever laugh. Yours is about night and day in looks to the Rosco we knew and what they grew up with, they even ran the laptop into Mom to show her. Looks like he enjoys fishing - even watching for the bite! Looks like a great fishing companion.

Yes Rosco has become at home on the boat. If the boat leaves here he is in the truck. I was looking at some pics I took of him on his third trip last April and he wasn't much bigger than the depth-finder and I took a pic today of him laying on the same deck. He has grown to fit the deck. A few pics of today's catch also. Was able to put a good limit together.

Thanks guys. Jim I couldn't buy a bite today on a jig. With the heavy rains we had last week all the lakes are muddy. All the fish today was caught on minnows in 18 foot depth with the bait one crank off the bottom. Very lite bites, would see the line move just a little. Once you hooked them they had a lot of fight in em.
