This ostrich plume, up close, is more of a Fuscia color than actual pink. I might have to try and get some Fl. Pink Veniard's dye, and dye up a white ostrich plume.

Those are amazing little jigs. Perfect proportions IMO. They will get bit big time!

Do you counter wrap your herl? I have some and it can be pretty brittle. Instead of using wire, you can just half hitch your thread a couple times at the back, counter wrap the thread over the herl up to the head. Don't have to, but pretty simple to do and think it really helps.

AtticaFish, hadn't thought of that. I actually tie in three herls, grip the butt end of the herls with hackle pliars, spin the herl into chenille, then wrap.

My black ostrich herl is a crappy, short, plume. On the jig pictured, I had to tie off the first three herls at the 50% point, and tie in three more herls, then wrap to the jighead. Six herls total. Talk about a pain in the butt! That's what I get for buying cheap ostrich plumes at Hobby Lobby. The good premium stuff at BPS is plenty long enough, but costs twice as much.

Very cool tyes - think those are a #10 VMC

You might want to try brush or rope style with the ostrich herl...

I think that's what I did? Tied in three herls, twisted them into chenille, then wrapped. It's actually more like I palmered the herl after I furled it. I would do one wrap, then using index and thumb on my left hand, brush the short barbules of the herl back, repeat.

no worries pb - always a couple of ways to skin a cat

The white would be cool - use neon hi liters on it when you finish the tye...
