7/15/11 with the Pistol

Rough work day followed by the ultimate pleasure of getting off work to a son wanting to go fish. Loaded the small paddle flat in the back of the truck and away we went.
More work. Dragged boat up 12' of sand, down, down n up another 6' of sand and away we we went.

Started out crummy with me being a hard head and only fishing my way.
Can't help it, it's the thump.
Pistol broke out his casting rod with an in-line spinner he wanted from Academy that I picked up TODAY on a break from work. IT and Pistol saved the day.

Finished with a few meals worth of solid fish. Threw back as many, prob more.

Hoping the fish will start stacking soon so as the boy will stop showing me up. Love it when the pup teaches the old dog.

Not really. Next time I go alone and I'm getting skunked, best believe I won't be grabbing a spinner…
Maybe.
I'm a hard head.

Your boy has a knack - now you know how the old guys felt when you spanked em as a kid.

I don't switch either - only tied lead heads in my box.

That looks like fine low pressure water. I'm curious how there can be such a big sand hill in that location?

Its one in a series of huuuuge and deep gravel pits owned by a gravel company.
Pistol likes em Bc the fish are bigger than the ones we catch on the river…or so he says.
Personally, I believe the gators have him spooked.

Yep I remember my grandfather if I caught more fish than my dad laying it on Pops. Or vice versa when I outdid Grandpa. Never understood until one of my mine outdid me. Just something about the student taking the teacher to school , the teacher is always glad to see it.

Congrats on a fine day with your boy.

Looks like a fun day. Next time, make him row so you get a 'fair' chance to keep up with the catching. haha

Looks like a nice clear water lake. If it takes that much work to get a boat in there, i am guessing you had the lake to yourself.   Love having those little gems to fish.
