I am tying my own bucktail jigs using the ultra minnow jig head which has recessed spots for eyes. Is there a rule of thumb for what size eye to use.. I have 1/8 oz and 3/8 oz jig heads but am clueless as to what size eyes fit. Cant find anything on the internet that states this jig head takes this size and so on. Included is a picture of the ultra minnow jig headView attachment 4

Pretty much your own call I suppose. I use a rule of 3mm 1/16 and smaller and 4mm up to 1/2. You could probably us up to a 6 mm on the 1/2oz but I basically keep 2 sizes and make those work compared to keeping a multitude of 3d eye sizes.
One other trick on the bigger jig eye sockets, use a paint pen then put the eye on giving it maximum coverage to the jig eye socket.

If it is a do it mold
The jig head cast with the Do-It SHR-5-A mold has a center balanced “Style H” design with a holder collar, gill plates, fins, lips, scales and recessed eyes with pronounced brow and you have the ultimate in detail. Mold has 5 cavities and makes weight(hook size) 1/8(1/0), 1/4(2/0), 3/8(3/0), 1/2(4/0), 5/8(5/0) oz. jig heads. Recessed eye socket accepts our 5/32" stick on eyes.Uses aberdeen jig hooks.

Some 4mm will work, some run a bit large and sort of will work 4mm and 5/32 are usually interchangeable
3mm eyes work well but are a tad small but not necessarily a bad thing 3mm and 1/8 are usually interchangeable

When you're looking at any Do-It mold you can go to their online catalouge and if it has recessed eyes it will tell you what size to use

The 5mm will fit the ultra minnow heads the best. I had the mold and still have some left. A 6mm might fit in the 3/8 but if you order one size make it 5mm.

I would say 4mm eyes on the 1/8, I used some 5's last night for photo purposes and they were just a size large.
