The spawn has started here in Maine. My buddy and I tried a pond known for it's big crappie, and we were not disappointed. A material that I have never used has peaked my interest. I see a lot of fly tyers using this material, but I hardly see anyone using it as a jig material. Just wondering if any of the guys on here use it on jigs, and if so, what and where do you use it, pictures would be great? Found this...

    Ostrich Herl

Tried a small sample of ostrich herl on a 1/64 jig head in one of my favorite color combos. I like the look, but was wondering what you other jig guys think of this material for jigs. I have heard that it is not very durable for bodies, but there seems to be a lot of fly tiers that use it...

The demise of the Double Bunny

I thought I would post the results of the double bunny that I tied awhile back. After over 120 fish (crappie, bass, perch, sunfish and pickerel) this little jewel has been retired. Time to tie a few more with different color combos. I was impressed with the durability of the bunny strips...

    Maine crappie

Here in Maine black crappie are considered an invasive species, and no law or limit on them. In the past few years more and more people are fishing for them then ever before, but not to any great extent..YET! I have fished for them for about 9 years now, and they have become my main target...

    What worked today

Yesterday we did well with the crappie and perch using my orange/chartreuse jigs. This AM they developed "lockjaw", and would not have anything to do with orange/chartreuse :-/ I changed to these two ties and they awoke! Gotta love catching fish on your own ties!!

    Eagles like fish too

Out this AM for a little crappie fishing. Between the two of us we caught 61 with a few assorted yellow and white perch mixed in, all released to fight another day... except a few for the nesting eagles. They had to feed the kids ya know! :D
