    Gotta luv the barter

That's the best way to do it! I gave a handful of my jigs to a guy out on the water once and we BS'ed for a little while. He wanted to pay me for the jigs but i refused. Talked about our work while we fished and he ended up walking in my store with a bottle of sangria he brewed himself a week...

    first hours of zander season

Beautiful clean looking fish! Perfect eating size too. You hit the water at the right time i would say. Love that big eye bait you have there. With water temps over here almost at summer time levels (it got warm fast) i'm just about done fishing my walleye holes until the fall. The good...

    The River Why

Looks interesting. I don't buy too many movies and can assume that will never show on TV. I have been listening to audio books during my work commute. Will have to see if i can find it.

    Free Feathers (almost)

Haha. I can only imagine what the truck driver thought if he saw your look as it happened. Might of thought you were after some roadkill stew. I had a somewhat similar experience a few years back. After eating breakfast at my in-laws in town one morning i noticed a black squirrel was hit...

    Jig Nymph (float-fly)

Skeetbum - Yep, the tails are kip and i left a tail end of chart thread out the back as well to give it a little contrast. The bodies are dubbed with chopped up craft fur with some ultra fine wing 'n flash material in the mix. Jig Man - Using a hackle collar on these really slows the fall.

    Jig Nymph (float-fly)

They worked just fine. Lost count of the gills and crappie I caught in my 1.5 hour quick trip at dusk. Only 1 of the bluegill would have kept and all the crappie are a cookie cutter 9" this year.

    Jig Nymph (float-fly)

Got a bit of round about inspiration from a recent post here and decided to create some nymph jigs.  I know darn well they catch bluegill and crappie around  here so fixed a few up in various sizes.  Think i have here 1/64, 1/32, & 1/16. These are all lead free mixed media alloy, so just a hair...

Getting Life back to somewhat normal

Glad to hear some things are settling down for you. Most important thing is to keep a level head..... I have some friends who have gotten hot over this kind of thing and it never turns out good. You ever get a chance to check out Lake Hudson yet? Looks like it might be an hour or so south of...

    Ok, it's happened....

I really only have 1 good friend i fish with often. Also with my Dad or wife or my son every once in a while too. Even then, that is maybe once out of 10 or 15 trips that i am out solo. I fish a lot at night too and have the entire lake to myself on many evenings. Don't get me wrong, i do...

No eggs this time, think she was spawned out and decided it was dinner time. Not sure about twister color making a difference, caught this one a black Kalins lunker grub. Wind was up when i first got there and tried stickbaits off the bat.... no hits, no followers. Tried both bright and dark...

    Profile...

I threw the hair jigs for a while last night and never got a bump on them.  Started cycling through other baits and finally started getting some bites on a simple twister grub.... but they were just grabbing the tails and pulling.  Took a long time and lots of casts, but finally did catch a nice...

    Old buggers

You had skills.... even before JigCraft! Who knew? haha Those look like great proportions. Fun to see where we were and how are styles change. Some of my old ties looked like a mess on a hook. I used to tie a bunch of dark colored jigs with a similar pattern to those and tore up the...

    Duck and Squirrel

Those are awesome looking jigs. The colors sure pop. Good luck and hope to hear a good report.

    Ok, it's happened....

Sorry to hear all that has been going on. Hopefully you can work out a good arrangement for the kids. When i go through rough times.... i tend to fish more often. Probably not the best solution to problems, but it sure clears my head out.
