Another take on why fish (possibly) strike lures in general (not accepted by most)

Arne. First few months I was so busy my time wasn't mine. Then I took a couple small jobs and that was a mistake. Now I'm focused on family & fishing. I did a few things with the church and everyone was very critical on how I did things and tried to "educate" me. They educated me in...

    Even a blind squirrel ..

... finds a fish during the red moon A buddy and I hooked up at o'dark thirty to do some water I've done recently a couple times. This time it was different. We started catching them immediately and loosing them. You could tell by the cussing. Moon was red, air was like smoking cigs...

Buddy and I talk about this allot. Predator fish, like bass, are aggressive. They strike to eat but also because they are pissed your baits in their territory. I believe that predator fish with charge a bait and then push a wake of water towards the bait to disorientate it. You can feel that...

I've caught bigger smallies, but the large mouth was the big fish of the day. And heavy. Had to pick up the net with both hands

    Breaking the Routine

Correct. And add to the fact that smallies are excellent at spitting a hook. I lost two pigs today. One legit the other a rookie mistake.

Welcome to this little corner of the bait shack. Watch out, making jigs is addictive.

In water, the blue turns on like it had a florissant light on inside

    Some jigs with fresh skirts

I use a single wire weed guard - but mostly to prevent snagging on rocky river ledges. When I used a jig with a weed guard like yours, it got a heavy haircut I normally do not fish heavy cover or vegetation

Color is blue but it's not the color that's magic. It's the way the color presents itself when in the water. Never seen anything like that and with the success I've had this year, I'd like to believe neither has the fish. Again - color only matters when it matters, but when it matters, it...

Today, color really mattered. Fish were finicky but once I landed on the right combination of size, action and color it was game on

Great job!! Nice fish. 10 # bass on 2# test - pretty awesome fight

    Lost flathead

I'm staying with the 114's for smallies. If I was consistently chasing flat heads, I'd go with a heavier wire. We were spot locked in current too

    Lost flathead

While smallie fishing recently, I got a heck of a hit, set the hook and it was fight on. Thought I had a world class smallie. Then thought it could be a channel cat but it wasn't fighting like one. Major pullage, drag screaming, and rod bent in half. After about 5 minutes of fighting saw...

Live bait - I still believe I catch better quality fish using artificial baits Color - Color only matters when color matters. But when color matters, color really matters!
