    tying the wool jig

I didn't have much time this evening because I had to start dinner after this but I wanted to show how I have been tying the wool jig, remember proportion is everything and I don't claim to be doing it the best way, but some people have liked the profile of my jigs, you can adjust the...

    trappers supply wool

We are all looking for decent wool to use on these wool and satin jigs, and while wapsi sculpin wool works it is not raw enough maybe, and redgun found some at a trappers supply warehouse at a cheap price but after looking at a little of it, he's not sure about the quality as it had some matted...

    bluegill woolie

tied a 1/16 oz. wool and satin jig tonite when I got home from work, and thought I'd do a bluegill color combo, used green chart. wool, satin was two different shades of green and also blue, plus a little holo silver flashabou, size 4 sickle hook. not exactly a small jig, and I can see a bass...

    couple wool and satins

tied up a couple of 1/32 jigs this evening, trying to emulate Red's jigs a little more by using the satin fibers, been using 70 denier thread to prevent buildup of the threadneck as each additional group of fibers requires several wraps and as much as is on there 140 denier would be pretty fat.

    1/32 roundhead wool jig

got the package of sculpin wool and kiptails from crazy angler today and tied a couple wool jigs this evening, orange head and green chart. wool body, fl. green thread. sickle size 4 hooks, got stuck a couple times trying to pull the wool back, need to be careful with the sickles. lol

    1/32 wool jigs

couldn't waite to get home tonite and tie a couple jigs, settled on a 1/32 with wool body and just a little bit of kiptail down the sides for contrast, this color combo really pops and I was very happy with the outcome, tied them with thin mono thread to prevent a thick neck, and then just went...

    wool jig

I don't verticle jig much so I didn't want all the loose strands of fabric on this jig, but I did want to try the wool concept, it's a 1/16 roundhead, sculpin wool for the body and a touch of orange kiptail and steve farrar flash blend.

    lee pot broke

today I was starting to melt some lead, in order to clean it some more and when it started to melt, it was dripping real bad so I was tapping on the plunger rod and turning it back and forth with a screwdriver when the pour spout nipple came loose from the pot itself and that was that. lead impurities

I melted a bunch of lead down today that was so full of impurities that I had to scrap the whole mess. It was coils of lead wire about 1/4" thick and hollow and steelhead fishermen use it for sinkers, the impurities rose to the top as a thick black scale that would never stop comming. lol and it...

    mold questions for redman

Redman, I am wanting to try and make a few single pour home made molds. I have some 6061 aluminum that is 3/4"x1 1/2". I am guessing that the slug needs to be made from hardened steel like a grade 8 bolt or one of those black hardened bolts. what I am really trying to figure out is how to press...
