One of my local forums has mentioned that the Trout on the Lower Illinois River are hitting Zebra Midges, Olive and Copper. I tied some up. The upper two are size 16, middle is a size 18, bottom is a size 20. I would have had two each of all three sizes, but I kept dropping the second size 18 and second size 20. I finally gave up on it. I don't even want to touch the size 22 scud hooks I have.....

Those are nice looking. Way to dang small for me to tie, but pretty awsome. I have often wondered how those would work on bluegill..........

Plateboater, the bottom hook is a size 20 scud hook.

Fatman, I've tied on these, and some TMC size 20 dry fly hooks. It's not really the "tying" that's a problem, but just getting the darn thing into the jaws of my vise, and getting it to stay there. I'm using a knock-off Regal. I wonder if Regal Midge jaws would fit? Of course, I'm looking at getting a rotary vise here soon, and being able to tie small flies is one of the things I'm looking at.

Excellent tyes - great pattern out here also. Used them at Lake Crowley to catch Browns, Rainbows, & Sacramento Perch.

Now that is a small hook to play with ......are you using a magnification lens over the area or is that with your 20/20?
