Do you have smaller props? JiggerJohn encountered a situation recently when the tiny #0 fly prop got bit but the larger #1s were ignored on his signature 1/28 Boolie jigs.

I too prefer the #0 props on #8 hook jigs.

Those are 1/16OZ with #4 hooks. Props are #2's and yes, I have seen times when smaller props or larger props were just the ticket. Also, seen times when gold was the only color that worked. Now to figure out how to make interchangeable props (ROTFLMAO). I've used pony heads for years 1/32 and 1/16 are my go to sizes and have come to the conclusion that fish are fickle. I have a dozen of each of the following 00. 0, 1, 2, and 3 Nickle, Hammered Nickle, Gold, hammered Gold, Nickle Colorado, Hammered Nickle Colorado, Gold Colorado, Hammered Gold Colorado.

I have also PC some blades to match the head color which seems to be the ticket more often and anything else. My two favorites are 1/32 Watermelon with a #1 Watermelon with red flake Blade and 1/32 Watermelon with orange nose with a yellow orange #2 Hammered Willow Blade seems to work only when walleye are eating eggs but when conditions are right will outfish any other combination.

If I tried to carry all possible combinations I would sink the boat. A while back, my fishing buddy grabbed by Jig bag and commented on the weight. I kinda snorted and told him hes been spending too much time on the couch. We got home and he went and weighed the bag of jigs, Other than a bottle of sunscreen, a pair of needle nose, a pair of nippers and a hook hone, the only thing in the bag is 1/32 ounce and 1/16 ounce jigs. The bag per his garage scale weighed in at a paltry 34#.

We both fish the same way and it is not unusual for use to have tried 60 or 70 combinations in our first 3 hours of fishing. Once in a while we get lucky and catch fish as soon as we start but all too often we will drift thru an area zilch, change all 6 lines and make another run sometimes we catch a fish or two and change over to the combo that worked only to catch zilch again. There are days when color does not matter and we limit out in the first hour other days we may be out 8 - 10 hours and still be working on a limit. Ergo... Fish are Fickle!!!!
