Here are close-ups of some of the horizontal darting jigs i have been messing around with. I really like the looks of these and it is the first time i have done a chenille belly with a thread back. Even if these don't have much of the horizontal motion that i intended, i believe they should catch some fish.

The chenille fibers water resistance will probably impede horizontal dart, but the paint back/fiber belly looks killer for slow fall shrimp or craw patterns. Potential for a superb bonefish jig/fly.

AF,

Those look great. Nicely painted too.

I'd fish those vertically in my local reservoir and expect to catch crappie.

Thanks for the comments guys! :)

Hawnjigs - I do see a shrimp/craw connection with the look, may have to try that sometime. For the flyrod, i would probably stick to a bead head instead of the lead shot... i suck at casting the long rod! Interesting idea though.

Radtexan - The color on the backs of them are nail polish, i used the same color as what i painted the heads. To get the spattered look, you have to wipe the brush inside the bottle neck to get as much polish off as you can, then blot off some more paint on a scrap piece of paper. Once most of the polish is off the brush, VERY LIGHTLY tap the thread body with the brush. Then i put on a light coat of the glitter and a coat of clear over top.

Forgot to mention before, i trimmed the chenille on these to get the shape. Cut it short near the back end and left it long towards the front.

Hawn - Actually got the idea from a post i saw by Len (i think, dang my memory is bad, may have been on another site) about different ways to use chenille. Trimming larger styles into shapes was in the article. The cactus chenille is perfect for shaping since the fibers are so long.

Great work! You're really good with that nail polish...a little too good. You're gonna have us all wondering about you. :P

Seriously though, nice work. The fine paint job really brings them to life.
