Pink and green woolies

Well, I have a patch of Icelandic wool dyed bright pink. It was an impulse buy several months back because it was on clearance at Sprtsman's Warehouse. I haven't done much with it, but I was inspired by the wool ties, and I wanted to work with it for the swap. So I sat down to tie for the first time in about a month, and look what ya'll made me do.

I tied the first one with just flash and no chenille, but the wool was so tranclucent I figured they would look good with an underbody. Hopefully they'll be good for some crappie and bass this spring. Can't go wrong with pink and green, right?

Thanks everyone. I bought the heads from Cabela's already painted. They are collared, but the collar is really short and I figured they would work well for this type of application. I learned it's better to cut small chunks and place them exactly where you want them, because it seems the wool doesn't slide around. You can't really reposition after you've done a wrap or two it like you can marabou or most hair.

I tied up a bunch of these for the swap, but cutting the right length of hair left about an inch of wool on my hide patch. The leftover hair was getting in the way, so I cut all the remnants off. Seemed a shame to throw them away, so I stuffed them in a baggie. I had a few heads left over, so I figured why not try my hand at making it into dubbing?

I'm still getting a feel for how much to put in the loop to make different sized bodies, but I'm hoping these will be good come spring.

Shoe they look really good!!! Dubbing loops can be an exercise in how much or how little to put in and yours look really good!!! just the right amount. If you want them to look even more fuzzy take a piece of velcro and brush them a little.

Thanks everyone. This stuff dubs very well, and the cut off guard hairs really stick out. A couple of them came out kind of lumpy, but I consider it my fault for not knowing where to place it in the loop. I'm sure the next batch will look even better. Next time I try this, I think I'll pick up some ice dub or something glittery to mix in.
