Now I like this one have to tie me up a few for the gills this spring. Man it looks like one of our small Crawfish or Mud bugs that the Big Gills love early in the spring. The bit of olive is just the right shade to mimic them.

Very impressive tie. The eyes look perfect. Did the jig have have a recessed eye or was it flattened a little. Usually the 3d eyes would protrude a bit but I can't see it on this one.

Stump - when you tapped the copper on was it mixed in with clear??? Hard to see the copper in the pic. Beleive me I'm writing down all these paint jobs - my wife chaperones her schools bowling kids so if and when I get my lazy butt out of the bed I work on tackle.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Jim I use pliers to bend the head in, I have done so many heads this way I know about when to stop putting on the pressure. After the eyes are set I use Sally Henson and start applying around the eyes to make sure there isn't any space that is void then I coat the whole head. Some colors just look so much better and black is a one of the best for me.

Doug it is just the paint tapped on after the jig is dipped in the black while the head is still hot. The copper doesn't show on the head but it gives the black a richer look and looks like glitter was added to the paint after it is cured.

I'll see if I can get a picture of just the head so you can see the colors better. My light box sometimes makes a heads to shinny to see all the details. About to put 6 of them on ebay, we'll see is someone wants to pay for the time put into making a custom jig. LOL that is a odd place at times..

Fatman here are some pics of the jighead without eyes so you can see how the paint looks with the copper tapped on.

Yes you can buy them from most suppliers. I try to buy my tails from a fur dealer that buys from the trappers, can get better deals. I'll send you a link to his site.
