I won a ton of tiny propellers on eBay and have been messing around with them. This is a icejig I got off walleye supply, triple powder painted with pink, black and green chart. Then stuck a prop on it with a bead backer. As soon as the glue dries ill dip it in my test tank (glass of water) to check out the action.

Your popper jigs are really cool. The propeller attached to your ice jig reminded me of a Weed Wing...in reverse. That's cool too.

Thanks I like painting as much as tying. I use the tube and popper style covered in the clear tube a lot fishing with pretty good outcome. I'd like to see someone spray the leadheads with detail then cover them. All I do is dip powder. I also have some 4" clear tubes, huge I'd like to lead for that I can paint.

Great looking ties!!!!!!!!!! Can't see exactly from the pic but it looks like the blade would tick the hook point. Talk to SmallJaw about the powder sprayer!! he's got that down. Where are you finding the big clear tubes?? I've seen you post about doing that before.

When I pull up it spins fine, but when it's dropped the whole thing spins. Maybe it's too small. I got the big clear tubes from username garlco on eBay. Anyway I've posted on cc about it and have been doing it about 4 years, first I was just painting the jigs and fishing them alone then saw that they sold clear tubes so I stuck one on. Fish love em. And easy and fun to make. My kids even paint some up for me.

Nice jigs, very original and ingenius. Thes way the jig color comes through over those clear tubes is cool, and if you did use detail it would be pretty awesome. Spraying powder takes time and on something that small you either need to tap powder on or use vinyl or regular airbrush paint. The reason you could do multicolor powder with the spray method is you can't make that fine of detail, even on large 1/4oz baits you can't but the larger body allows you to blend colors and add shading and fading effect to provide a good overall look, you just don't get the things like gills or thin stripes. I think with tapping on powder you can do a nice tri color scheme that would come through the clear tube really nice.

Ok spins fine pulling up - at that point the propellor is against the bead. On the drop if the whold thing is spinning it could be getting stuck on the ridge of paint that's above the blade in the pic. First I would try to clear the extra paint from the base of the head and see if it spins.
If not I would use 2 small fly tying beads - 1 in front 1 in back of the propellor. Don't glue it stick a piece of tape behind the back bead to hold while you test it.
Tried looking up that jig head and got soft popper bodies - where did you get them??

Found this. I don't pour yet but I knew I saw them on do-its sight. They are larva jigs, now I know too. The guy I got them from called them popper sprouts I think. Thanks smalljaw for the info. Guess my wife will be having some missing makeup brushes tonight. And I think I will try 2 beads on the icejig too. Thanks for all the help guys.

Glad to help. If you don't want to buy the mold check with the guys here who sell and they might be able to pour them up for you.
Be interested to know if you can figure out a way to keep it from twisting line. I bet it would work well as is in shallow water where the twist would not affect your line too badly.
The popper/sprout/larva jig heads look like they would be excellent bluegill heads..... any idea or guess on a weight and hook size for them? The hooks actually look like they could be 2X heavy scud/caddis bend hooks. Never seen them before, but they are very cool.
Get your self a cheap paint brush and start loading the brush and tap away - you will be hooked! Can get pretty decent color blend and precise control with practice.

Anyway I looked at my past eBay purchases and found those larva jigs. They were 1/16 with a #6 and 1/32 with a #8 hook. I paid like 12.00 for them including shipping. The guy was nice. I asked him if he could do a black chrome hook or sickles and he said no. As much as I like the style I'm not a fan of bronze hooks. Especially using them with soft plastics. Rust!!!!

Tapping definately takes practice!!!!!!!! I've gotten better at it but still practicing. You could take a look at Hagens but I don't think you'd find them in sickle hooks.

The biggest problem with that mold is they show a kinked hook to hold the lead and they don't run cheap.

The biggest problem with that mold is they show a kinked hook to hold the lead and they don't run cheap.
It has a flat eye hook so might require modification to the mold for standard 90 degree eye jig hooks...... thought the kink shank hooks had a bend more like a standard round bend (streamer) hook though. Oh heck, i don't know, but they sure look good!
When you load the brush with powder, try tapping it once or twice back into the jar before you tap it over the jig so it is more of a dusting that comes off the brush.
