Wool Jigs

Finally got my wool I ordered and last weekend I went to Hobby Lobby and stocked up on satin so today I had a chance to tie a jig using the wool. It is a little different material to get use to using but it does make a nice looking jigs. I used a 1/80 jig with a #10 hook. Ruby Red powder paint with a painted black eye. White wool for the tail with red satin down the sides. Used yellow wool and dubbed it for the body then used a brush to pull the yellow back into the tail. Here is the jig and a pic with it under a UV light.

Wow, that's really a different look. I like the thread undertie with wool wisps over.

Good pic of the materials - I was wondering how it all looked.

Thanks Hawn. I'm looking forward to seeing how these jigs work around here. I wasn't sure about how to remove the threads from the satin but is wasn't hard once I cut the satin in 2'' squire the thread can be pulled out by using the finger nails. It has been great reading about these wool tied jigs and look forward to reading more about them and watching as our tyers tie there jigs and post pics of them.

Man does that look awesome!!! I wonder how the wool will work on a 1/16oz with a #2 hook? That satin it the tail just ties it all together and it will give the fish a target, awesome tie!!!

Wow, that's neat Ronnie. We don't have a Hobby Lobby or a Micheals within 100 of here. That's a different look but I like it. Well tied jig.

Scott and MaryLou, all the material in my pic only cost $9 so these jigs will be cheaper than most jigs we tie and they are enjoyable to tie. The satin I bought the least amount they would sale me so each piece is 1/8 of a yard and only cost .49 cent :) LOL all the satin was less than $3. The wool I found on e-bay for $1.50 each with free shipping. Don't y'all just love tying!!!
