When I was in California a couple weeks ago I poured some football heads from a Collin's custom mold that Sonny has. Heads are 1/8 and 1/4 oz. The hooks are Gamakatsu 5941's in 5/0, a really heavy duty hook that actually weighs .04 or 1/25th oz. each. Finished weight on the 1/4 oz was actually 5/16. I used silicone skirt tabs, copper flash, burnt orange hackle and brown barred hackle for the tail and finished it with crawfish orange crosscut bunny strips. Paint used for the head was CRAZY ANGLER'S CRAWFISH ORANGE with a custom COPPERHEAD RED blend that I mixed up. For a guy who only fishes for big gills specifically, he has some really cool bass jig molds. I'd sure like to have a mold like this as would other bass guys,I'm sure. The head is wider than the do it football heads which should make it even better balanced.

I love the look of that I Crawfish colors to the max!! I also like the flat eye hooks on a football jig, that is how mine are. I don't care for a heavy duty hook on a flat eye because of the pull point so for my heavy duty hooks on a football head I use a regular eye Owner 5304 deep throat jig hook, those hooks are downright dangerous! My football head takes both flat eye and regular eye hooks but I agree, all of the Collins custom molds arer really good and they pour nice, I got to use a spinnerbait mold once.

I prefer a lighter wire myself. I've never tried the 5304 but like Owners as well. I'd like to see this mold with some Mustad 32798's or GAMA'S 3214 which is one of my favorites although I'm not sure theses hooks will fit the mold.

That hook looks humongus . Must be the profile of the head . That is some good work . Bet your glad you don't have to deal with a weed guard before or after the tie . Never could stand weed guards myself .

The hook is a 5/0 but looks bigger on the 1/8 football head. The hook isn't real long and the gap is huge. I think you can pull up a stump or two with this hook.
