This is the jig that I have the most problems with. The alwives in Raystown Lake catch everything, the main thing for large stripers, huge crappie and also huge smallmouth. This one was tied with black and white Artic Fox and a tutone chenille job.Took a little while for me to get it right.Maybe good, maybe not.I hope that I finally have something that will catch me a 7 lber up there.Smallmouth that is.

How big are the Raystown alewives? The ones I've seen in Nebraska are a shiny wide body 4-6".

Quote my wife: "That looks like a dead mouse"

The ones that we castnetted last time there were 3 to 4 inches long.If you threw one out on a line you caught a fish.If you threw something else you got "Nada".It does sorta look like a dead mouse, lol.A very handsome one.

Didja just over wrap the black pieces of chenille? gives it a great lateral profile. Great jig
I tied a piece of the black on the top and the bottom first, let it hang out the back. Then I tied in the white just like any other jig, wrapping the thread at the head about 4 times then cutting the chenille off. Then the top pulled it over the white to the head,a couple of wraps of thread then the bottom making sure that they were straight, then a couple more wraps and a whip finish.Pretty easy stuff,as long as you don't get too many wraps of thread going over and sticking out from the chenille.

Bruce Dang you any way. Thought that I was done with the fall jig tying and then you showed up with this one. Well it looked to good to pass up so tied up a dozen. Know that this one will be a winner. Just used Badger instead of Arctic fox. Looks like the shad that we have in Caddo Lake.

Bruce I got 4 tied before the wife started to yelling/tell me that she had a bunch of honeydo stuff for me to do. Then my kid call and wanted to be a chatty cathy so talked to him for 2 hours. So will finish the rest tomorrow morning. Want to do a half dozen thread neck Black/Shad Gray in kiptail. Then MAYBE I will be done????? Have a new Crystal radio that I am building that needs to get done. All fun stuff for sure.
