This is all you need.I lived there for 31 years and tied every color under the sun. This one ALWAYS got bit.Nothing fancy at all.I've had to take them home and retie them from all of the marabou being torn off.I would tie them in every size.Black and shad gray marabou and silver flash.Black powder and black thread, does'nt get any easier then that.

Bruce that is a good looking jig. I think I could use two colors of jigs here all the time but then what would I do with all the stuff I have to tie with :) That jig looks great wet!

Here it is dry just to let you see how much feathers that I have used successfully.A palmered marabou has also done well with palmering the black feather then laying the shad gray on the bottom.

This one pictured is an 1/8 oz. with a size 2 sickle hook. This was the size that I would use for the largemouth bass in the lakes there.

Got a lake near me that tends to be like that only it is blue and white . Had a bait shop there once . When I opened I put up this nice array of jigs and plastics in all the popular colors . Over time the other colors that should have flown off the wall became dust collectors . I wish there had been a Bruce around to warn me .

Funny to see this topic right now. I just got back from 4 days of camping/fishing with the family and black was the color of choice.

I like jigs in black & gray too. Have used this color combo for smallmouth bass fishing during the winter months. It works...very well. :t-up:
