Cork Popper

Found some cork that was close to the size I wanted for some small poppers. Cut it to the right length and took a dremel tool and carved out the front and then cut a slot for the hook shank. Used nail polish to paint the body, 4 coats plus a clear coat after the 3D eyes were placed on the body. The tail is tied using yellow & purple hackle, pink flash, yellow/orange rabbit hair, dun saddle hackle and rubber legs and tied to a size 12 hook X2 long. I believe the Bluegill and Shellcracker are going to enjoy them, what y'all think of em.

Thanks guy's. It's fun making them a few at a time but wouldn't want to make em all the time. I made some out of foam last week that looks good and easy to make the body, just use a hole punch and glue two or three together.

Both look awsome! Each combine the hackle and rubber legs - can't decide which i like better.........

One (tiny) nit pik i might have is the down eye hooks. They sure not gonna sink but may try to dive a little more than a straight eye or dry hook. Can't imagine trying to make a popper on a #12. :cool:

I like a straight eye for poppers also but had these hooks already with a long shank. Have some size 10 but the gills are not wanting to hit anything over a size 12 where I been fishing.
