Well, I promised the pics after getting a starling yesterday morning. There are thousands of these birds around here and are considered pest. These starlings kept getting in the rafters of the house, driving my minpins crazy. So, one lost it's life. The starling made a couple of nice jigs.....

Interesting how did you clean the kill ? I mean the feathers

Instead of skinning the bird, I just plucked the feathers off the bird. A lot easier then plucking chickens. Got a lot of nice eyes. Good for replacing the high priced jungle cock hide.

Nice work Heather..Can you do anything with these darn Grackle's out here ????

Rad....pull out the pellet rifle and get cracking...lol! Starling are such a pain here. They get in the holes of other birds and destroy their eggs, can wipe out a bird feeder in 5 minutes, I can feed my cats and 1/2 a dozen of those nasty birds can clean out their bowl...yep, starlings don't have much value here.

Nice ties!!!!!!! The only thing I would have done though is wash the feathers in dawn dish washing soap and warm water. When done stick them in a bag with a hole cut in the side the using a blow dryer on low blow them dry. birds can have bugs on them and you DON"T want any of them in your other materials.

I was in a material swap box on a fly board and someone put a bunch of natural materials in the box and needless to say there was a lot of ruined materials. One member washed cleaned and disinfected a lot of hackle. They couldn't do everything and the furs were wrapped tight in a double thick bag with two more over it. I took it outside to open and it was infested just no way to save it.

Just don't want anyone to lose materials!!!

Oh I agree! The feathers went into a clear plastic bowl with a lid and left out to bake in the sun. No air and baked like that, nothing lives. No creepy crawlies. :D
