Figured I'de tye some jigs that would work for the salt or freshwater. Here's a 1/4 oz. with a heavy 1/0 sickle in black nickel.I palmered a yellow marabou on the rear and a red marabou on the front.Finished with a red thread neck.
Looks good. I have been tying some with multi colored tails and I sure like the look of them. I use a lot of Chartruse and yellow marabou and hackle for tails so now I have been tying both on. Best of both worlds.
When they are drug through the water they are skinny looking, but, when you pause for a second the palmered marabou flares and makes it look bigger around like a Blowfish, lol.
Yellowjacket, you tie the tip of the feather behind the head of the jig. Then you dip your fingers into a cup of water and tease the barbs of the feather back towards the hook point while holding the stem at the bottom of your other hand. Then you twist the feather around the hook shank while keeping the feathers pointed back. You use the whole feather and tie it around the stem and cut it off. Then I usually wrap the thread arond the stem nub until it is all covered and you have a nice thread neck.Look at some U Tube videos. That's where I perfected the way I do it.
